Intentional Healing Journeys


Welcome to the Journey

Healing is rarely a straight line, and it’s never just about “fixing” what’s broken. It is a courageous, deliberate cooperation with God to restore the deep places of the heart. If you’ve felt the nudge to move beyond surface-level changes and explore the "house" of your inner life—your beliefs, memories, and identity—this is your invitation.

The Intentional Healing Journey is a framework for those ready to trade exhaustion for honesty. Through practices like kenosis (self-emptying), journaling, and community processing, we transition from managing our outward symptoms to cultivating a transformed inner life.

Are you ready to show up? Whether you are looking for a practical pathway to release old weights or seeking a safe space to be known, your Day 1 starts whenever you choose to begin.

How to use this guide:

“Healing often starts inside and then changes what grows outside.”

What we mean by “healing”

Healing is not “fixing yourself.” It’s cooperating with God as He reveals what’s wounded, restores what’s broken, and forms what’s mature.

  • Healing includes mind, body, relationships, and spirit.
  • Healing is often layered: what’s visible first may not be what’s deepest.
  • Healing tends to be process, not just an event.

Core convictions (shared ground)

  • God is love (1 Cor 13:4–8 is our root picture of love).
  • Love is unconditional (agape) and safe—not to be feared or underestimated.
  • We can’t sustainably love and serve others if we won’t let God love and heal us.
  • Expectation shapes perception: what we expect influences what we notice, hear, and receive.

Key terms (quick definitions)

  • Intentionality: choosing the work on purpose—showing up with honesty and courage.
  • Kenosis (self-emptying): making room for God by releasing control, self-protection, and false identities.
  • Journaling: tracking movement from point A to point B; naming patterns, breakthroughs, triggers, and God-moments.
  • Fasting: a practice of surrender that surfaces what’s underneath and strengthens spiritual responsiveness.
  • Processing: bringing what’s real into the light—often involving reconciliation, grief, confession, boundaries, and forgiveness.
  • Self-love: receiving God’s love and learning to treat yourself as someone worth caring for.

A simple picture: “House / Field”

  • House: your inner life (beliefs, memories, emotions, vows, shame, identity).
  • Field: your outward life (relationships, habits, health, work, calling).

Sometimes we try to fix the field without exploring the house. Healing often starts inside and then changes what grows outside.

Common obstacles (name them so they lose power)

  • Self-condemnation: the voice that says, “You are the problem, and you can’t change.”
  • Lies tailored to your level: deception that targets your current growth edge.
  • Avoidance: staying busy so you don’t have to feel.
  • Control: trying to manage outcomes instead of trusting God in process.

What this journey looks like (a practical pathway)

  1. Show up (intentionality): choose honesty over image.
  2. Listen (prayer + awareness): notice patterns, triggers, and the Spirit’s invitations.
  3. Name (journaling): write what’s true without editing.
  4. Release (kenosis): surrender what you’ve been carrying or controlling.
  5. Practice (fasting + disciplines): train your heart, not just your behavior.
  6. Process (safe people + steps): reconcile, forgive, grieve, confess, set boundaries.
  7. Integrate (new rhythms): live into what God healed—repeat when new layers surface.
You won't necessarily do all of these things, but these are some key common principles to a successful healing journey!

Your first 7 days (starter commitments)

  • Daily (10–15 min): prayer + journaling (“What’s true? What do I feel? What do I need? What is God saying?”)
  • One fast: choose a simple fast (food, media, comfort) and use the time to pray.
  • One conversation: share one honest thing with a safe person.
  • One act of self-love: sleep, nourishment, movement, kindness—something concrete.

Journaling prompts (use any)

  • “God, what are You inviting me to heal right now?”
  • “Where am I believing a lie?”
  • “Where am I stuck in self-condemnation?”
  • “What would love do for me today?”
  • “What do I need to release (kenosis) to make space for growth?”

This is an invitation! You’re welcome at the pace you can sustain. If you’re willing to dig deep, God is faithful to meet you with love and truth.
